TEXTURE PAINTING

Students explored combinations and layers of crayon rubbings and watercolor paints to produce these stunning works.  They learned in the process that the wax in the crayons resists the water in the watercolor paints.  And, when the water in the watercolor paints dries on top of a waxy rubbing, the paint attaches only to the paper where there is no crayon, leaving behind a rich, textured pattern.
